With International Women's Day on March 8, it’s worth highlighting a key workforce statistic: women make up over 75% of the health and social care workforce across many OECD countries, while slightly over half of all doctors on average across OECD countries in 2023 were female.
However, gaps remain: women’s jobs tend to be more concentrated in lower-skilled and lower-paid occupations, and they remain underrepresented in leadership.
