Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: 10/26/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) Location Montgomery, AL Facility Overview This facility features a 492-bed capacity and offers various specialized services, including: Level I Trauma Center Level III NICU Primary Stroke Center Unit Information Travelers will be assigned a home unit during their first day of orientation. The quality of care expectations are high, with designated patient care ratios: Typical RN Patient Ratios: 1:4 Patient Ratios for lower acuity: 1:4-6 Available Units 6 North Trauma Surgical Beds: 23 Patient Types: General Surgery and Vascular surgeries Skills Required: Trauma/surgical experience, wound care, chest tubes, IV skills, medication administration/documentation, escalations. 5 South Neuroscience Beds: 33 Patient Types: CVA, TBI, Seizure, AMS, Spinal Fusion, Craniotomy, and post-trauma care.

Skills Required: IV start, central line blood draws, trach care, PEG, NGT, colostomy, wound care, surgical site care. 5 North MedSurg/Oncology Beds: 39 High acuity patients, excluding stroke and MI.

Skills Preferred: Chemotherapy experience, trach care, chest tubes, IV starts. 3 South Orthopedic Beds: 20 Patient Types: Orthopedic surgeries including joint replacements and spine procedures.

Skills Required: PCA pumps, wound care, dressing changes, drains. 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology Beds: 23 Patient Types: Urology, ENT, orthopedic, and MedSurg patients.

Skills Required: Trach care, wound care, IV starts, and dressing changes.

Qualifications Minimum of 18 months experience in MedSurg and/or ICU, with EPIC or Cerner experience required. If exclusively ICU experience, Cerner experience is mandatory. Must have telemetry experience; ability to interpret tele strips is required.

Required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS.

Support on the Unit CNA Support: 1 CNA for every 10-12 patients Receptionist/HUC: Yes Phlebotomy: Available IV/VAT Team: Available Telemetry Monitoring Tech: RNs are required to confirm telemetry readings every four hours. Orientation and Scheduling Orientation for new travelers or those returning after more than one year: 24 hours of classroom time and 24 hours on the unit.

Weekend rotation: Every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month. Major and minor holiday expectations are in accordance with facility policy.

Shift Times: 7 am - 7 pm, 7 pm - 7 am.

Schedule Cycle: 4-week cycle without self-scheduling.
