Guaranteed Hours: 36–40 Hours Per Week Absolute Minimum Qualifications & Facility Hardstops: Licensure Mandate: Active, unencumbered New York State (NYS) RN License held in hand at submission.

Experience Baseline: Minimum 1 year of dedicated Vascular Access / PICU / PICC Placement experience .

Clinical Proficiency Mandate: Verified proficiency in placing Ultrasound-Guided Peripheral IVs (USGPIV) , Midline Catheters , and Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICCs) is strictly required.

Core Certification Required: Active AHA BLS certification. (VA-BC certification preferred) .

Job Summary & Clinical Scope A facility in Ithaca, NY is seeking a highly skilled Vascular Access Nurse (RN PICC) for a 13-week day-shift contract. Operating within the Vascular Access Department (1123), the nurse will provide specialized vascular access support across all inpatient and hospital-based departments, performing advanced ultrasound-guided line placements and vascular site consultations.

Advanced Line Insertion: Perform bedside ultrasound-guided peripheral IV (USGPIV) insertions, midline catheter placements, and PICC line insertions for patients with difficult vascular access.

Vascular Access Assessment & Consultation: Evaluate patient vascular health, recommend appropriate access modalities (PIV vs. Midline vs. PICC), and ensure adherence to line-preservation protocols.

Line Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform complex central line dressing changes, line clearances (Alteplase/Cathflo administration), declotting procedures, and tip placement verifications using ECG tracking/fluoroscopy protocols.

Hospital-Wide Interdisciplinary Support: Serve as the clinical expert and consultant for nursing staff across ICU, Med/Surg, ED, and Surgical units regarding vascular access maintenance and complication management.
