The facility features 39 beds and provides care for complex ICU patients, including surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma patients.

Patient Types Complex ICU patients including: ARDS Myocardial Infarction (MI) Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA)/Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) COVID-19 Post-cardiac catheterization Post-surgical patients Multiple system and heavy trauma cases Required Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of ICU nursing experience preferred (excluding travel experience). Under 2 years of ICU experience may be considered with significant RN experience in other areas. Completion of a nursing education program approved by a Board of Nursing. Registered Nurse (RN) license active in South Dakota. Candidates must be willing to obtain the following certifications prior to arrival: BLS ACLS NIHSS TNCC (required)

Skills and Experience Epic experience is required. Ability to manage IV medications (vasopressors, sedation, paralytics) and hemodynamic lines.

Experience with ventilator management, telemetry, and proning. Strong critical thinking and assessment skills.

Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT is strongly preferred. Comfortable in a fast-paced setting with critically ill patients.

Unit Support CNA assistance: 1-2 Nurse Aides per unit plus mobility float aide. Charge nurse support provided by 2 Clinical Registered Nurses overseeing the ICUs. Phlebotomy services available for peripheral blood draws only. IV/VAT Team issues managed by ICU Clinical Registered Nurses. Resource Nurse availability based on staffing needs. Respiratory Therapy personnel available 24/7.

Orientation and Scheduling Comprehensive orientation includes: 8-hour hospital orientation 4-hour completion of iLearns Two 12-hour shifts of floor orientation One additional 12-hour independent shift for travelers on 48 hour contracts. Weekend rotation is generally every other weekend, though not guaranteed. No time off requests will be accepted during the holidays.

Approval for up to 7 days off requires extending the contract to a full 13 weeks. No time off requests during the Sturgis Bike Rally in early August.

Additional Information Travelers must reside at least 100 miles away from any facility.

Patient ratios are typically RN: 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3 based on patient acuity. Opportunities may arise to precept nursing students. Scrub color is navy.
