Wellspring Nurse Source is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Alexandria, Louisiana.

Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: ASAP Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical Position Summary The competent Nurse in this role practices independently in a clinical setting and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care. This position provides both routine and complex care, with the ability to focus on long-range goals and plans. The Nurse continues to develop skills to cope with and manage clinical contingencies, making appropriate assignments and delegating tasks to other care providers to effectively manage the clinical situation. Key Responsibilities Meets expectations of professional competencies including leadership, patient care, and clinical practice. Provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. Adds to the support of the psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in alignment with their level of practice. Administers medications and treatments per established protocols; monitors for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatment. Documents patient history, symptoms, medications administered, and care provided. Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, families, and caregivers; identifies issues and available resources. Job Requirements Education and Skills Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.

Experience Minimum of 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred. Licenses and Certifications BLS certification via AHA is required. RN License in the state of employment or compact is required.

Work Schedule This is a full-time position with a night shift from 7 PM to 7 AM. Scheduling will be based on the needs of the unit, and weekend shifts may be required. Nurse/Patient Ratio The typical nurse to patient ratio is 5:1 to 6:1, depending on staffing levels and clinical needs.
