Cross Country Nurses is seeking a travel nurse RN CVOR for a travel nursing job in Springfield, Illinois.

Job Description & Requirements Specialty: CVOR Discipline: RN Start Date: 11/23/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 40 hours per week Shift: 8 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Job Summary Registered Nurse, Operating Room Open Heart. The position supports complex cardiovascular, vascular, thoracic, and endoscopic surgical procedures in an acute care setting.

Responsibilities include perioperative care for adult and geriatric patients, with participation in scheduled call coverage.

Job Details Schedule: Day shifts, 8-hour shifts, 40 hours per week; call coverage one to two nights per week and every fifth weekend.

Required Qualifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; active Illinois license in hand or in the application process; operating room experience, including cardiovascular operating room and general operating room settings; Level II trauma experience; teaching hospital experience; experience with cardiovascular, vascular, thoracic, and endoscopic procedures; Whipple procedure experience; and proficiency with aortic aneurysm repair, atrial septal defect repair, coronary artery bypass graft, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, femoral cannulation, intra-aortic balloon pump, left ventricular assist device, MAZE procedure, mitral valve replacement, patent ductus arteriosus procedures, pericardial window, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, arteriovenous fistula repair, atherectomy, carotid endarterectomy, endovascular aneurysm repair, femoral popliteal bypass graft, vein stripping, lobe resection, mediastinoscopy, thoracotomy, video-assisted thoracic surgery, bronchoscopy, esophagogastroduodenoscopy, laparoscopic-assisted procedures, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube placement or exchange, laser safety, specimen handling and labeling, and Universal Protocol time-out procedures.

Preferred Qualifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification and approximately three years of solid operating room experience, particularly involving trauma or major operating room cases.

Additional Information: The role supports cardiac, thoracic, vascular, and endoscopic procedures for adult and geriatric patients. The unit has an average daily census of 10 patients and four operating rooms.
