Contract Length: 13 weeks with possible extension Candidate Type: Traveler Requirements: 2 years of experience in a CVICU/CTICU; active Virginia or Compact RN license in hand at the time of submission; proficiency in Epic; BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association; NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); arterial line management; blood product administration; central line care and management; PICC line management; starting IVs; continuous IV sedation; procedural sedation administration; titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips; strong neuro experience, including post-brain surgery and EVD/ventriculostomy experience; FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring; interpretation and management of dysrhythmias; multi-system organ failure; CABG; intra-aortic balloon pump; Impella; post-cardiac surgery care; pre- and post-cardiac catheterization/intervention; pulmonary artery line/Swan-Ganz monitoring; IV insulin protocols; CVVHD/CRRT; CVA/acute stroke management; assistance with BiPAP and CPAP; care of ventilated patients; high-flow nasal cannula; interpretation of ABGs; suctioning; ventilator management; infection prevention; isolation precautions and PPE use; surgical wounds with drains and wound vacs; no license or background hits; local RN candidates living within 50 miles of Chesapeake Regional Healthcare are not eligible Responsibilities: Provide nursing care for cardiothoracic ICU and step-down patients within a universal bed model. Care for patients following cardiac surgery, including CABG and procedures performed directly or not directly from the operating room. Monitor and manage arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, pulmonary artery lines, Swan-Ganz systems, and FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring. Administer blood products, continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation, and titrated cardiac and vasoactive drips. Care for ventilated and neurologically complex patients while supporting respiratory management, stroke care, and multi-system organ failure needs.
