Details Work on an adult overflow medical surgical unit servicing multiple admitting physician teams including Neurology, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Cardiology, Orthopedics, and Oncology Care for adult patients 16 and older with diagnoses including diabetes, CHF, COPD, renal disease, orthopedic fractures, and neurological deficits Patient ratios of 1:5-7 Day shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM Every other weekend required Floating required within the Med/Surg service line, including to MS/Tele units Cerner charting system preferred 36 or 48 hour contracts available Perform general floor care procedures including IV therapy, labs, nasogastric tubes, wound care, and assisting physicians with bedside procedures and conscious sedation Requirements Active MO or compact RN license required at time of consideration BLS certification required; ACLS preferred Minimum 1 year of specialty experience required Prior travel nursing experience required Teaching hospital experience preferred Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line blood draw, and peripheral line care Experience with cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias preferred Wound care/wound vac experience preferred Ability to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs Additional Information Assist with hospital throughput by caring for medical surgical patients across multiple specialties May be required to perform charge duties as needed Holiday coverage required for 50% of holidays occurring during the contract Works in a healthcare facility operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with potential rotating shifts and inclement weather coverage Routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses Local candidates residing more than 74 miles away are accepted; those within 50 miles are not eligible, and those 51-74 miles away are offered a local rate Local candidates are not eligible for contract extensions beyond the initial assignment Maximum of 10 days RTO permitted, none during the first week due to orientation First-time travelers are not accepted for this position American Traveler Job ID P-768321.
