Job Title Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Travel) Location Hickory, NC | Acute Care Schedule / Job Type Contract | 13 Weeks | Days (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) | Expected 36 hours/week | Every other weekend required | No call requirements Key Responsibilities Provide direct patient care on an 18-bed Medical Surgical unit serving an adult and geriatric population at a 1:6 patient ratio Manage common diagnoses including COPD exacerbation, GI bleed, diabetic complications, wound care, pancreatitis, sickle cell crisis, sepsis, infection, falls, weakness, and end-of-life/hospice care Operate unit equipment including Baxter IV pumps, SCD machines, Kangaroo feeding pumps, and PCA pumps with demonstrated IV competency Document accurately using the Cerner EHR system Float as needed to surgical, neuro, and intermediate units (accepting med/surg level patients) Function as a strong patient advocate and collaborative team member on a high-acuity, fast-paced floor Required Qualifications Active RN license in North Carolina or a Compact state license Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience Proficiency with Cerner EHR and demonstrated IV competency Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing required Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for travel rates Preferred Experience / Skills Charge nurse experience Experience with high-acuity med/surg patient populations including wound care and end-of-life care Demonstrated ability to thrive in a busy, team-oriented environment Why Join Us Opportunity to work at a large regional medical center offering a broad scope of specialty services including a Brain Center, Cancer Center, Heart Center, and Level 3 NICU Structured orientation dates provide a smooth onboarding experience for traveling clinicians joining the team Concentric Healthcare Staffing Job ID 793715.
