Details Level 3 Trauma teaching-free hospital with Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designation 32-bed Surgical Med/Surg Tele unit with average census of 28 Patient population includes total joint replacements, colon resections, gallbladder and appendectomy cases, amputations, medical overflow, hip fractures, SBO, and NG tube management RN ratios of 1:4-6 days and 1:5-6 nights, with surge ratios up to 1:7-8 12-hour night shift schedule, 1845-0700, 36 hours per week Schedule cycle runs every 6 weeks with every-other-weekend rotation Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice Low census call possible, with call-back up to 3a for nights and up to 3p for days Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors Support staff includes CNAs, HUC/receptionist, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage Requirements Active RN license (NC or Compact) required Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year Skills required include cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drip management (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management Epic EMR experience required Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN Additional Information Provide direct nursing care for Med/Surg Tele patients including cardiac monitoring, wound care, and line/tube management Facility maintains free parking for staff Navy scrub color required Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with any shortfall added to the end of the contract Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) and 2 days of departmental orientation First-time travelers are welcome to apply Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius to be eligible, as local candidates are not accepted Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position American Traveler Job ID P-742664.
