Details Specialty Orthopedics unit within a hospital setting Surgical patient population requiring pre-operative and postoperative assessment and education Includes Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) duties, evaluating orders for appropriateness based on procedure, age, and health status PM shift, 7p-7a, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week Floating as needed, including to a sister hospital nearby No on-call requirements Uses EPIC for charting Requirements Active NJ or compact RN license required BLS certification required Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred EPIC charting experience preferred Surgical/perioperative patient care knowledge required, including conditions, procedures, and equipment for surgical patients Additional Information Responsible for comprehensive patient assessments across the lifespan from pediatric to geriatric populations Maintains accurate and complete documentation of nursing care and patient progress Provides patient and family education regarding surgical procedures and recovery Follows National Patient Safety Goals, including Universal Protocol and two-patient identifier verification Uses safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics Collaborates with the perioperative team to prioritize and direct patient care based on condition changes Local candidates accepted at a different pay rate Assignments limited to one calendar year from the initial start date, with a required break before returning American Traveler Job ID P-779956.
