The unit primarily cares for medical patients and does not treat surgical patients . The patient population includes diabetes, renal conditions, COPD, abdominal rule-outs, and cancer patients not receiving active chemotherapy . Key Clinical Skills Medical-Surgical and MS/Telemetry nursing Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management IV therapy, IV starts, PICC and central-line management Blood product administration Heparin and insulin management PCA management Respiratory care including oxygen therapy and non-invasive airway management BiPAP/CPAP experience Chest tube care Wound care and wound vac management Phlebotomy and blood draws Bedside procedures may include thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertion, and simple suturing/debridement .

Requirements 2 years of RN experience preferred Candidates with 1 year may be considered with Level I Trauma and teaching-facility experience BLS and ACLS – Required Epic experience – Required MS/Telemetry experience preferred First-time travelers accepted Must pass the Relias EKG exam Strong dysrhythmia interpretation and management skills required Assignment Details Every other weekend required Facility Highlights Barnes-Jewish Hospital is a Magnet and teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center with approximately 1,266 staffed beds .
