Details Acute Medical Unit with Medical and Telemetry patients 24-bed unit with an average daily census of 16-18 Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 1900-0730, Monday through Friday No weekends and no call required Night shift staffing ratio of 1:5 Patient population includes acutely ill adult and geriatric general medicine/surgical or infectious disease patients requiring telemetry monitoring for non-acute cardiac conditions Includes pre- and post-procedure evaluation and care, and neurological assessment of acute ischemic stroke/TIA patients Involves EKG rhythm identification and non-titrating cardiac drip management Excludes care for active GI bleeding, uncontrolled ischemic chest pain, continuous NPPV, and certain high-acuity medications (TNK, insulin drip, Neosynephrine, Nipride) Epic charting preferred Floating required within service line and scope Requirements Active IL RN license required, license in hand at time of submittal BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required CPI certification preferred Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience required Experience with 1:5 patient ratios required Epic charting experience preferred Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration required Experience managing cardiac drips without titration and interpreting dysrhythmias required Experience with oxygen administration and respiratory support equipment required Wound care/wound vac experience preferred IV insulin protocol experience preferred Additional Information Provide care for acutely ill adult and geriatric patients with medical, surgical, infectious disease, and telemetry needs Navy scrubs required Free parking available onsite First-time travelers are welcome to apply Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to be eligible Standard travelers may stay up to 18 months, followed by a required 3-month break in service Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler Maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of orientation American Traveler Job ID P-780661.
