Job Summary This position involves providing high-quality cardiac care to patients in a telemetry unit. The Registered Nurse will be responsible for monitoring patients, administering medications, and collaborating with a healthcare team to deliver effective treatment plans. Required Skills and Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred Minimum of 2 years of cardiac nursing experience Experience in Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, or Step Down units preferred First-time travelers accepted with the requisite experience Job Details Shift: 12-hour nocturnal shifts from 18:45 to 07:15 Contract length: 13 to 26 weeks, with options for 36 or 48-hour contracts Floating to other units may be required as needed Weekend coverage: 4 shifts per 4-week period No on-call duties are required Patient-to-nurse ratio: 1:6 Holidays: Must be willing to work Contract staff may be assigned to emergency teams and are expected to report during catastrophic events or disasters Patient Diagnoses Atrial Fibrillation Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) Aortic Stenosis / Regurgitation Mitral Regurgitation / Stenosis Endocarditis Cardiomyopathy Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD) / Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) Vasculitis Carotid Stenosis Venous Stasis Sheath Management and Removal Special Procedures and Unit Details Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) Aortic Valve Replacement (AVR) Mitral Valve Replacement (MVR) Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) Mitral Clip procedures Left Atrial Appendage Closure (LAAO) procedures Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS) Carotid Endarterectomy Femoropopliteal Bypass Amputations and other vascular surgeries Cardiac and thoracic surgeries Post-catheterization care Post-defibrillation and cardioversion care Post-electrophysiology procedures Pacemaker placements Special Equipment Arterial Lines (not required) Doppler Bladder Scanner EKG Machines Femoral Sheaths, TR Band, Fem-Stop Chest Tubes Epicardial Pacing Wires Unit Systems Pyxis EPIC SBAR communication model Unit Orientation 24 hours of orientation will be provided for new staff members.
