Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: 11/22/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 48 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel MedSurg Float Pool RN — Assignment Details Requirements At least 18 months of MedSurg experience First-time travelers accepted BLS and NIHSS Strong assessment, prioritization, communication and documentation skills Skills appropriate to assigned units, including trach care, chest tubes, PEG/NG tubes, ostomies, wound VACs, drains, IV starts and central line care Trauma Surgical assignments require at least 1 year of trauma experience Patient care and floating Units: Trauma Surgical, Neuroscience, MedSurg/Oncology, Clinical Decision, Orthopedics and MedSurg/Ortho/Urology Patients: General and vascular surgery, stroke/TBI, post-op neuro and spine, oncology, withdrawal, behavioral health, medical observation, joint replacements and urology Ratios: Generally 1:5–6; MedSurg/Ortho/Urology may use team nursing with 1 RN and 1 LPN caring for 8 patients Floating: Like units and patient populations, including MedSurg holds in the ER and task support in ICU Charting: Cerner Equipment: Omnicell, Plum 360 pumps and Spacelabs monitors About TotalMed RN TotalMed is a Top Ten, travel nursing and healthcare staffing agency with the mission of igniting purpose in healthcare.
