This acute-care assignment supports patients recovering from neurosurgical procedures, spinal conditions, and cerebrovascular accidents following tissue plasminogen activator treatment. The role provides 12-hour night-shift care in a 28-bed neurological unit and requires strong cardiac rhythm interpretation and neurological assessment skills.

Job Details Required Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications; minimum of 2 years of recent experience within the past 6 months; ability to interpret electrocardiograms (EKGs); successful completion of a dysrhythmia examination within 48 hours of receiving an offer, with a maximum of two attempts.

Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week; every other weekend and holidays as needed.

Additional Information: Provides care for neuro postoperative patients, including post-craniotomy, spinal, and cerebrovascular accident patients following tissue plasminogen activator treatment. The assignment includes a 1:34 patient ratio, centralized telemetry, no ventilator patients, two days of unit-specific orientation, and a pass/fail examination on the first day of orientation emphasizing sterile technique. The care setting is acute care within a Level 1 trauma environment. Cancellation may occur for up to four shifts during a 13-week assignment or three shifts for assignments shorter than 13 weeks.
