Details Acute care Med/Surg unit in a Level II trauma hospital with 30 beds Patient population includes medical and post-op/surgical patients Patient ratio of 1 to 5 12-hour day shifts scheduled 6:45-7:15, every other weekend 4 weekend shifts required within a 4-week schedule Floats to telemetry at a 1:4 ratio and may float between Med/Surg floors First to float among staff Uses Cerner EMR Charge nurse functions as clinical supervisor providing break relief without taking patient assignments 2 nurse aides on days and 1 on nights No ventilator patients on unit; portable telemetry box used as needed with monitor tech support 24/7 in-house hospitalist, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy coverage No dedicated IV team Requirements Active CA RN license required BLS certification required COVID vaccine required 2-3 years of experience in Med/Surg specialty required Prior travel nursing experience required Must be able to read and interpret telemetry rhythms Must pass a dysrhythmia exam Driver's license copy required for consideration Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility Additional Information One shift of floor-specific orientation provided Holidays worked into the permanent staff rotation Holiday RTO may be considered but cannot be guaranteed Navy scrub color required Must be a team player First-day orientation includes a pass/fail sterile technique test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes Candidates who fail Relias dysrhythmia or sterile technique testing twice are ineligible with this health system for 6 months Candidates may not have been directly employed by any facility within this health system in the past year American Traveler Job ID P-775299.
