Job Title Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical Location Roanoke, VA | Acute Care Schedule / Job Type Contract | Nights | 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM | Onsite Key Responsibilities Provide direct patient care on an adult acute care unit serving patients with conditions including elective back surgeries, trauma, prostate cancer, gallbladder disease, and cellulitis Maintain a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio while delivering safe, high-quality Medical Surgical nursing care Participate in Rapid Response and Code team activations as needed Perform and manage peripheral line care, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, and isolation precautions May be required to serve in a charge nurse role and/or precept other staff Float within skillset to other units as operationally required Required Qualifications Active Virginia State RN license or active Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state BLS certification required EPIC charting experience required Proficiency in Medical Surgical nursing care, including experience with Rapid Response and Code teams Charge nurse experience required Must work at least one holiday per 13-week contract; winter holiday assignments may require coverage of two holidays Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are considered local and are generally not accepted; candidates residing 50–99.9 miles away may be considered for a single 13-week assignment with no eligibility to extend Preferred Experience / Skills Prior travel nursing experience welcomed; first-time travelers also considered Experience precepting nursing staff Familiarity with caring for post-surgical and trauma patient populations Why Join Us Opportunity to work at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center (adult and pediatric) affiliated with multiple academic medical institutions Engage in a dynamic acute care environment with exposure to a diverse and complex patient population Concentric Healthcare Staffing Job ID 794159.
