Details 32-bed Med/Surg Tele unit with an average census of 28 in a Level 3 Trauma, Stroke Center, and Certified Chest Pain Center facility Patient population includes total joint replacements, colon resections, gallbladder and appendectomy cases, amputations, hip fractures, SBO, and medical overflow patients RN patient ratios of 1:4-6 days and 1:5-6 nights, with surge ratios up to 1:7-8 12-hour night shifts from 1900-0700, 36 hours per week on a 6-week schedule cycle Every other weekend rotation required Possibility of low census call-back, up to 0300 for nights and 1500 for days Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, and Central Division facilities including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors Unit supported by CNAs, HUC/receptionist, charge nurse, dedicated phlebotomy and IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, Hospitalist, and Intensivist coverage Requirements Active RN license (NC or Compact) required Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management EPIC EMR experience required Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN Additional Information Provide direct nursing care for Med/Surg Tele patients including cardiac monitoring and post-surgical management First-time travelers are welcome to apply Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible, as local candidates are not accepted Previous AHSE employees must be separated from any permanent position for at least 1 year before being eligible Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with any shortfall added to the end of the contract Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) and 2 days of departmental orientation Navy scrub color required Free parking available on site American Traveler Job ID P-729071.
