Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Stepdown Discipline: RN Start Date: 12/07/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, flexible Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) Job Description The neurosurgical unit provides exceptional opportunities to care for a diverse patient population. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams specializing in brain tumors, spinal malformations, neuroendovascular procedures, and epilepsy surgery. This is a mixed-acuity unit featuring both floor-level care and an 8-bed high-acuity step-down unit to cater to patients with more complex needs requiring hemodynamic and neurological monitoring.

Responsibilities Provide comprehensive patient care, including neuro assessments and interventions. Manage advanced medical technologies and medications associated with high-acuity neurosurgical patients. Conduct regular neurological checks and monitor patients' conditions closely.

Assist with specialized procedures including monitoring EVDs, lumbar drains, and arterial lines. Administer IV fluids, medications (such as 3% NS and Cardene drips), and manage seizure management protocols.

Qualifications Must have stepdown or progressive care unit experience. Current RN License in New York. Two years of relevant nursing experience required.

Experience with telemetry is essential. BLS certification is required; ACLS certification is preferred. NIHSS certification is required.

Demonstrated experience with high acuity stroke and neurosurgery patients is mandatory. Schedule This position requires the ability to work on a rotating schedule including weekends and holidays, with options for either 36 or 48 hours per week.
