Details Inpatient Med/Surg Tele unit specializing in stroke and TIA patients, plus higher-acuity med-surg patients Treats adults and geriatric patients with diagnoses including stroke/TIA, seizure, syncope, pneumonia, chest pain, dialysis, acute kidney failure, post heart cath, respiratory failure, encephalopathy, CHF, and sepsis Performs peritoneal dialysis and continuous bladder irrigation Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45-07:15) Every other weekend coverage required Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 on nights Floating to other units required based on facility need and staff competencies Uses Omnicell medication system and Epic EMR Requirements Active TN or compact RN license required Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience in a Med/Surg Tele unit required Minimum 1 year of Epic EMR experience required Prior travel nursing experience required Previous charge nurse experience required Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and telemetry remote monitoring Experience managing cardiac drips, insulin, heparin, and PCA medications Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE protocols Additional Information Provides direct patient care within a high-acuity Med/Surg Tele unit with a strong focus on patient experience Responds to rapid response and code team activations as needed Orientation held every Monday along with annual compliance training Completion of pre-assignment testing and required modules within 48 hours of receiving login credentials First-time travelers will not be considered for this role Travelers must reside more than 100 miles from any facility within the health system to be eligible, with reduced rates for 90-99.9 miles Night shift candidates in this specialty may be considered at 50 miles from the contracted campus, with reduced rates for 50-99.9 miles and ineligibility under 50 miles American Traveler Job ID P-767496.
