Provide competent direct patient care in accordance with emergency department standards, policies, and procedures. Recognize changes in patient condition, prioritize nursing care, and respond appropriately to emergent needs. Demonstrate knowledge of emergency equipment, procedures, safe patient transfers, and proper body mechanics. Maintain complete and accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, patient education, and patient progress. Follow patient-safety practices, including appropriate patient identification and universal precautions. Educate patients and families while maintaining confidentiality and treating everyone with professionalism and respect. Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support positive patient outcomes and patient satisfaction.
