Hours: 17.5 hours per week, permanent part-time The RNID Near You Co-ordinator for our Community services will focus and lead on: Developing and delivering the RNID Near You, community service across the SEHSCT area. Initiate and promote the RNID Near You Hearing Aid Support Service (HASS) to reach and engage with people who are deaf and hard of hearing. The target group for this HASS is adults ordinarily resident in the SEHSCT who have been issued with an NHS hearing aid(s) but who are struggling with usage or management of the hearing aid(s); and possibly have stopped using their hearing aids altogether. Supporting people with their hearing loss. While you will be home based, there will be regular travel to venues where we provide drop-in sessions in community settings.
You will be responsible for: Working in partnership with the Strategic Planning and Performance Group (SPPG) of the Department of Health to develop hearing aid support services within the SEHSCT. You will recruit, train and support volunteers to deliver our HASS throughout the SEHSCT in conjunction with Audiology, Sensory Support Teams, RNID Service Manager and other Hearing Aid Support Service staff. Work with the Service Manager to plan activities, meet project objectives and monitor and evaluate the RNID Near You HASS.
What you will be doing: Ensure delivery of the HASS activities through use of volunteers in community, care homes and hospital settings. Provide regular progress reports to the Service Manager on targets and service expenditure in line with funding requirements to enable service review. Raise awareness of the service by marketing through appropriate means including networking with local statutory and voluntary agencies. Attend outreach events including local information / health fairs and present awareness talks.
About You: You will have an understanding of the issues affecting deaf people and those with hearing loss and tinnitus and an open and inclusive attitude that supports deaf culture.
Experience of recruiting, training and managing volunteers with knowledge of best practice in volunteer management. You should have project or service delivery experience in a relevant setting. You should also have the ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with colleagues, service users, volunteers and external stakeholders.
Excellent IT skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office software are essential. No essential qualifications are required, but a good standard of written English and attention to detail is a requirement. Job Summary Under the direction of the Clinic RN, provides direct patient care including treatments, medication and diagnostic studies. SUPERVISION RECEIVED : Physician/Chief of the Medical Facility EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE : Prepares and positions patient for diagnostic imaging procedures Adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxiety and obtain patient cooperation Moves imaging equipment into specified position, determines exposure factors on basis of height, weight, portion of body involved, and degree of penetration required, and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff Participates in monthly radiation safety meetings Performs specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures. Assists radiologist in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations Works alongside Medical Director during procedures by scrubbing and assisting with surgery Prepares images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician Obtains and saves images during procedures Monitors patients during procedures, operating a C-Arm (within the scope of practice) Manages, appropriately names and uploads procedural images to directory Prepares equipment which includes cleaning and sterilizing instruments Maintains inventory of medical supply par levels while working with Medical Director and Purchasing Manager Performs end of month supply counts Ensure the confidentiality of all user names/passwords assigned to you; ensure these are not shared with any other employees or third parties. Perform all job functions and employee duties to the highest level of confidentiality ensuring PHI (including electronic) is not compromised. Employee will have access to the applicable PVG network and software solutions relative to the position. Compliance with an adverse incident reporting system. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED : Knowledge of modern radiologic equipment and techniques; regional and gross anatomy of the human body; standardized radiologic clinical procedures; thorough knowledge of the hazards of radiologic materials and the safety precautions required; the operation and care of modern radiologic equipment; and the ordering and storing of supplies. EDUCATION : (include any licenses or certifications required) High school diploma or the equivalent. Possession of a current valid certificate as a certified Radiologic Technologist in diagnostic radiologic technology issued by the State Department of Health Services. Two years of experience, including training in radiologic techniques and methods, under an accredited medical radiologist. (Successful completion of the work required for a graduate nurse may be substituted for one year of this required experience and training.) or successful completion of a two-year training program in radiologic technology approved by the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association, in collaboration with the American College of Radiology.
