We are currently seeking aBiomedical Scientistfor an immediate start in the Pathology Department at Altnagelvin Hospital, Derry/Londonderry. This is a temporary position for an initial period of three months, with the potential for extension depending on service needs. The role will involve preparing and processing patient and research samples, performing diagnostic testing using specialised laboratory equipment, and accurately analysing and recording results.

You will also be responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment, carrying out quality control procedures, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. The successful candidate will work closely with healthcare professionals and research teams to support high-quality patient care and scientific research. The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary laboratory service, delivering high-quality diagnostic testing to support patient care across the Trust.

The position is based in the Pathology Department at Altnagelvin Hospital, Derry/Londonderry, and is offered on a temporary contract for an initial three-month period, with a view to extension. The working hours are Monday to Friday on a rota basis, with a pay rate of £19.78 per hour.

We are hiring one individual to join the Point of Care Testing (POCT) team at Altnagelvin Hospital as a full-time Associate Practitioner (POCT). The POCT service plays a vital role in supporting safe, effective and timely patient care by providing diagnostic testing across the Trust. This is a temporary ongoing position expected to run a minimum of three months, with a likelihood of extension.

Pay rate of £14.06 Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. You will be working closely with the POCT Manager, you will support equipment maintenance, IT connectivity, stock management, training administration and quality assurance, ensuring compliance with relevant standards. We are looking for someone with strong communication skills, attention to detail and good IT literacy, particularly those interested in technology, laboratory sciences or medical devices.
