The Vascular Interventional Radiologic Technologist must be competent as the assistant to the Interventional Radiologist for minimally invasive, image-guided vascular procedures in roles that include scrubbing, monitoring, and circulating.

The technologist must have knowledge of the various imaging equipment in use including fluoroscopy, computed tomography (CT), and ultrasound. The Interventional Radiology Technologist begins employment with a 6-month orientation in over 100 procedures performed in the interventional lab. The technologist must become competent as the scrub assistant to the Interventional Radiologist performing invasive procedures.

They must maintain competency in the operating and use of angiographic fluoroscopy, ultrasound and CT (both Diagnostic and Interventional uses) and be able to manage 1500 products in the inventory of the lab. The technologist assists in performing many NeuroInterventional surgical procedures such as cerebral aneurysm coilings, avascular malformations and stroke interventions. Oncology procedures performed in the lab includes, but is not limited to biopsies of various organs, chemo embolizations and Y-90 Radiopharmaceutical Therapies.

The technologist also assists with uterine artery embolizations, venous lysis of tumors, vertebroplasties, infusion pump placements/revisions, radiofrequency ablations and other peripheral vascular interventions, including lysis and clot removal. This department performs over 20,000 procedures annually. The Interventional Radiology Lab is staffed 24/7, so there is no on-call requirement for the technologists.

This is a full-time evening shift position, 11:00a - 7:30p, Monday-Thursday with no weekends. After working in the IR lab for one year, the technologist is eligible to be moved into a Senior Procedural Radiologic Technologist position, which includes a slight pay increase.

The Surgical Technologist and/or the Certified Surgical Technologist prepares the room and gathers supplies needed for surgical procedures; delivers instruments and supplies to the surgeon and other members of the surgical team intra operatively; may function as second assistant to the surgeon; assists in the proper decontamination of the room, supplies and instruments post operatively.

Responsibilities And Duties: 40% Prepares for surgical cases by obtaining and preparing appropriate supplies, equipment and instruments, reviews surgeon's preferences to determine required items. Establishes and maintains a sterile field and presents instruments to the operating team. Delivers appropriate instruments/supplies utilizing proper principles of sterile technique. Acts as 2nd assistant to surgeon, performing duties related to draping and operative site exposure. Responsible for removal of all sharps and initials return card for verification. Can hold extremities. Assist with casting and splinting. Mixes medications on the sterile field once verification by a registered nurse has occurred. Assist with positioning, can fix specimens in formalin (annual competency required), assists circulator in proper care and handling of surgical specimens. SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE Graduate from an accredited (CAAHEP) surgical technologist school preferred or equivalent military training or 10 years’ experience as a Surgical Technician. Understanding of procedure performed. Anticipate surgeon’s needs. Have necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care. Monitor sterile field. Provide aid in exposure, hemostasis, and other technical functions. BLS and strong clinical knowledge of OR environment.

Job Description Summary: The position prepares patient for testing (including thorough screening questioning), assists the radiologist during testing, operates the MRI equipment for a variety of procedures, maintains supply inventory in assigned rooms, and covers call duty, as assigned.

Responsibilities And Duties: Operates MRI equipment, including the magnet, injectors, independent consoles, physiological patient monitors, and cardiac gating/monitoring equipment. Uses equipment to properly adjust pulse sequences according to body part and diagnosis. Demonstrates correct and adequate anatomic positioning skills. Performs daily safety and quality control checks for the system. Sends images to PACS for interpretation. Transfers images to independent console for further manipulation. Reformats and performs post processing of images for radiologist interpretation.

Must possess good organizational and communication skills.
