Lifestyle / Care Assistant for English Literature Uni Student Are you a recent graduate and not sure what to do next? Or are you someone with a passion for making a positive impact in their lives? AskJules are recruiting on behalf of our client, a university student at the University of Oxford.
Our client is looking for a team of like-minded care assistants to support her with personal care and daily living at Manchester off term and Oxford during term time. This is a fantastic opportunity to help make a positive impact on a young adult's life. Location – Oxford, OX4 4LR term time / Manchester , M20 6SS off term time Start Date – 8th December 2026 for training Shift Pattern: Block shifts of 36h/48h Term Time & hourly off term time 8 weeks on term time in Oxford & 6 weeks off, off term time in Manchester Rate of Pay - £18.00 per hour in Oxford / £16 per hour Manchester Care experience is not essential for this role as full training will be provided.
About our client Our client is looking for a team of full-time PAs to assist her at her home in Manchester, as well as at Oxford during term time. She is looking for local PAs in Manchester to start training, who would be then willing to work in Oxford term time. There will be PA room available for when our client is at university in Oxford.
Our client is a second-year English Language & Literature university student at Oxford University. She is a full-time electric wheelchair user and requires support in all aspects of her daily life. She is an intelligent young woman who enjoys studying and learning.
She likes spending time with her friends to relax and unwind. She is creative and likes to paint, crochet and make things. She likes to go to bookshops, museums, and art galleries.
She enjoys listening to music and singing. She is adventurous and looking forward to exploring all aspects of university, including travel opportunities, academic events & debates and parties. She is keen to make the most out of her time at Oxford University.
As written by our client Prior to starting university, I lived all my life in Manchester, apart from when I was 9 years old when I spent a year living in Berlin with my family. I have dual nationality and I can speak both English and German. I love reading and analysing novels.
My favourite authors are JRR Tolkien and Jane Austen. I like going out with my friends to cafes, libraries, museums & art galleries, university societies, and pubs etc. I love baking and cooking, especially cakes.
I crochet and sometimes do knitting. I also enjoy doing creative activities especially drawing and painting. I find watercolour portraits fun and relaxing.
I have been swimming since I was very young and try to keep this up when I can. I am keen to explore other accessible sports. I love singing and participating in choirs.
I like listening to music. In the past year I have been with friends to see Renee Rapp (London) and Conan Gray (Manchester). Studying at Oxford university is very intense (1-2 essays each week and examinations at the beginning of every term) which means sometimes there isn't a lot of time for relaxing or leisure activities during term times.
I like to be as independent as possible, especially when I am out and about with friends. I do not want my personal care needs to get in the way of making the most of my time at university and during the vacations. Mostly, I do not require my PA to be with me or to follow me around when I am out.
However, my PA needs to be no further than five minutes away and to be available immediately when I call. I am quite chatty and like talking about music, books and films while I am being helped with personal care or other tasks.” About the Job You will provide our client's health and social support. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a positive difference to somebody else's life and to assist our client to achieve her goals and ambitions.
This job offers the prospect of meaning and job satisfaction. This is role goes far beyond simply care work and includes all the fun things you'd expect a second-year university student to be doing , like getting out and socialising, whether that be cinema, going out for meals or other general activities! Care experience is NOT required as full training in our client's particular requirements will be provided.
Duties will include: - Assistance with personal care - Domestic duties / cooking, cleaning & shopping - Accompanying our client to appointments and events - Supporting around university and beyond - Support with travelling and accessing venues Qualities our client is looking for in a PA - Friendly, chatty & responsible - Physically fit, not over bearing, organised & respectful of our client's privacy - Have the ability to work on your own initiative - Have a good sense of humour - Able to follow instructions - Be calm under pressure - Have good and clear communication skills - Be fluent in English - Be clean and tidy in both your appearance and ways. - Hold a clean driving licence (preferred but not essential) If you would like to apply for this position, please describe your interests in your covering letter.
