Band 6 Acute Occupational Therapist Location: Devon Duration: ASAP for min 1 month Contract Type: Locum Band: 6 Temporary Staffing Agency (TSA Ltd) is currently recruiting for an experienced Band 6 Acute Occupational Therapist on behalf of a leading NHS Trust in Devon. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive multidisciplinary team within an acute hospital setting, delivering high-quality Occupational Therapy services to patients with a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. The Role As a Band 6 Occupational Therapist, you will provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and advice to patients and their carers. Your caseload will include a wide range of acute and chronic care patients, many presenting with complex disabilities, rehabilitation needs and discharge planning requirements. Some services may also include palliative and terminal care cases. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, ensuring Occupational Therapy input is integrated into each patient's overall care plan, while maintaining a high standard of patient-centred care. Key Responsibilities Provide specialist Occupational Therapy assessment, diagnosis, treatment and advice to patients and their carers. Manage a varied caseload including patients with complex physical, cognitive and functional needs. Support patients through rehabilitation, discharge planning and ongoing care pathways. Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team in an acute hospital setting. Contribute to integrated patient care planning and goal setting. Work autonomously, prioritising and managing your own caseload with minimal supervision. Undertake lone working when required. Provide supervision, support and training to junior staff, therapy assistants and students. Assist managers with service development initiatives to meet patient needs and Trust objectives. Support the delivery of an equitable and effective service across the Trust. Participate in weekend working and on-call services where required by the service. Essential Requirements Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy. Current HCPC registration. Previous NHS experience within an acute hospital setting.
Experience working at Band 6 level or equivalent. Strong assessment, rehabilitation and discharge planning skills. Ability to manage a complex caseload independently. Excellent communication and multidisciplinary team-working abilities.
